Mark of the Ninja - [PC, PS4, Switch, XBone]

Postby Snowy » Fri Oct 19, 2012 10:09 pm

Bit of a stealth title this one - in every sense. Caught me unawares, it was only reading the devs talking about stealth titles over on RPS that alerted me to the game, and what a little belter.

Twelve quid gets you a nice MS sponsored game (with no GFWL!) in the old school, a 2d platform based stealth-em-up. Think Splinter Cell in 2d with a ninja. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. Reaching for the wallet yet?

I picked it up on the strength of a lot of good reviews, and it really is a blast. A very comfortable role to slide into so hot on the heels of Corvo, and really rather beautifully done. The fuck-awful console controller buttons are slightly offputting initially but once you get the flow of it it just feeeeeeeels like that finger pointing away at the moon. Or, put another way, very very intuitive and enjoyable. Stealthy, stabby, puzzly, goodness. Buy it.

I am interested in picking this up after hearing the good things Giantbomb had to say about it, however I think it might have to be Steam sale jobbie as I currently have too many games to play.

It really is fucking superb. I am in the same boat but really liked the sound of it, and really for £12 you can't argue.

I have got this, it's good fun, although I suck at stealth. I am enjoying it though and finding it quite a challenge.

Special edition DLC out next week...

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013- ... -next-week

Klei Entertainment's excellent 2D stealth game Mark of the Ninja is getting its first bit of DLC with the Special Edition add-on, due 16th August on XBLA and Steam.

For $4.99 / 400 Microsoft Points (about £3.25), this expansion will add one new prequel level, two new items, and a new costume that focuses on items and non-lethal takedowns.

Furthermore, it will add an optional developer's commentary track to every stage, including the new one

Just finished playing through the vanilla game at the weekend. So very much looking forward to this. :)

Strange seeing a remaster of a game I thought I'd bought not that long ago and still haven't got around to completing :-k
