New Details...

Lords of Shadow 2 will be the concluding chapter in the reboot
Anchor points will be highlighted only if players want them to be and won't be apparent on harder levels at all
Transitions between environments are seamless
Teleporters, much like in Igarashi's Castlevania titles, replace mission summaries
One boss encounter was described as longer but more varied than those in the original
Players have free camera control. When left alone the camera behaves similarly to in the last game
The Combat Cross has been replaced with the Blood Whip, but the two are very similar in function and gameplay
Like the Cross, the Whip covers a large range of the screen and can be used to string light and heavy attacks together for combos
Magic has been replaced with Dracula's Blood. This doesn't regenerate, but can be earned through killing enemies
Evasion, blocks and counters top up the Focus gauge. When full, blood erupts from enemies on impact
Taking damage empties the focus meter
Light magic has been replaced by the Void, and Dark Magic is now called Chaos
In addition to the Whip, the Void Sword allows players to regain health with attacks, while the Chaos Claws can break shields
Dracula can glamour mortals to seize control of them and take mist form for stealth, or to pass through grating to access hidden areas

ARGHHHH

fucking hell who play tested this, camera angles are so fucking annoying then to find the controls die till you let go when the view is doing it's fancy spin around and confuse the bloody hell out of you. Haven't we got past Resident evil camera shittyness.

The combat is good when you can have a clear view otherwise it gets annoying running into the screen to find the next little goblin or werewolf. And what is up with the mounting of spiders/trolls etc to do a shitty smash wall or use to get across a gap. You have a frigging move that easily surpasses them all. Some really bad decisions here. Not least when the FMV cuts in to show something vastly uglier than the games graphics *shudders*.

Okay barring the camera issue I am really enjoying the game now. 15 hours in and up to the last Lord but been enjoying the cutscenes that propel the game forward and Patrick Stewart's narrations have been well worth whatever they paid for it.

I do hope in future that they use a better camera system as that's my only real issue with the game. Copy Darksiders system would be perfect :)

I've heard (can't remember the source, tbh) that the camera is controllable in the sequel, as well as acting like the first game's fixed angles if left alone.

Hope that is true then. The levels have such level of detail it's just criminal to not be able to see it without the camera doing it's fancy spinning around or moving. Running up the chain to the Vampire lord, I so wanted to spin the camera around for screenshots to use as a desktop as the scale was really good :)

I have literally hundreds of screenshots taken so far :P

I loved it. Utterly loved it. Probably on for my 3rd completion now, first with the DLC (heard bad things so never bothered and watched the cinematics on youtube!).

There were only a couple of moments where you had to fight the camera and I only really noticed it after going for another playthrough after playing Metal Gear Rising with its love controls.

Completed it all now and loved it even if the DLC's were over far to fast. Here's hoping for more to come to the pc to play :)

I meant to post this last week, but completely forgot.

I managed to get a good 20-30 minutes of game time on this at the Eurogamer Expo and I liked what I played. I was a fan of the first game, but felt the combat was a bit lacking and at times could get very annoying. In the second game it is a lot more fluid and it feels fairer meaning that it is more fun to play. As for the rest of it it is very much like the first game very gothic and it has you fighting giant monsters. It doesn't look the best on current gen consoles with a lot of jaggy edges and they are still having issues with the camera. A couple of times I died over and over because I couldn't see where to jump as the camera refused to move to the right position.

So overall I guess that if you liked the first one then this is very much more of the same, but with an upgraded and improved combat system that makes the game more fun to play. Also get it on the PC if you want to appreciate its look properly.
