Without the art style it would just be yet another zombie co-op, of which we've had way too many of recently. This one at least looks different. Looks like it actually has some originality.

Cliff Bleszinski the Design Director at Epic, appeared on YouTube to tease the fact that he’s going to be revealing a completely new franchise this Saturday at VGA.

He called it an “entirely fresh and new experience”.

Fresh Cliffy? It's about as fresh as a three year old potatoe you just found in an aldi bag under the stairs.

Yeah it's not exactly original is it. Zombie games are the new WW2 games.

Maybe he just meant an entirely fresh and new experience for the developers at Epic since they usually do brown third person shooters.

The worrying fact is that you'd think someone such as Epic would be well aware that they are entering an already saturated genre. There's paid for ip's as well as masses of free flash games and mods galore all based on the same idea already out there as it is. It's pretty disappointing.

Well it is fresh..... name another zombie game you have to barricade yourself in for protection. Its one step towards the holy grail in the form of a 3D Urban Dead.

......then the shitty art style shows up and ruins it.

Dead Block...

Build barricades to keep the zombies out of your room.
Build traps to slow down the zombies
Locate the Guitar equipment to beat the level
Break everything
Search, Search and more searching.

Not quite the same though is it? Dead Block is a quick response tower defence type game where you only go around defending your safehouse. This looks more like you actually leave and collect stuff during the day.

It had as much barricade building as CoD:Zombies. It was also shit.

I personally think it looks potentially amazing. As much as I love Minecraft, I always craved a more directed experience along the lines of 4 of you building deadly traps during the day, then watching as zombies throw themselves at your traps and towering walls, all the while you're sitting on top demolishing them with a huge gun. Versus Minecraft, where creativity is the main thrust rather than survival. All you need to survive in it is 4 walls after all.

It looks to me like Epic saw how popular Horde is/was, and want to expand upon it massively, which is a good thing in my book if they manage to pull it off. I also like the art direction, why not? It worked for Team Fortress, it can work for this.
