I'll be buying this come Friday having watched the copy I bought my son being played the last day or so. I honestly don't get why the SWAT 4 fans among you aren't really feeling what this game has to offer. Maybe one of you will explain it to me and tell me to fuck off. B my guest.

The lack of single player content and inflexibility of load out options strikes it from my list. Would happily look past the little annoyances if the "gameplay loop" didn't seem so troublesome.

(Oh, and hello again Prey!)

I am not about to tell you to fuck off mate, not so soon after you have come back!

For me the game has got it all wrong - a lot of my gripes are in my earlier post but it largely depends what you want from the game. Me, I want a tactical co-op shooter, something they purport to give you. However what they actually give you is a co-op game where you can't choose your map, have to have objectives which require a team of 5 players to make it work (play it with less and you die), respawning bad guys making the tactical element laughable, bullet-sponge enemies, honestly I couldn't be more disappointed with what they have done to the co-op option.

If you want it for an adversarial shooter you may find a great game, I wouldn't know as I don't play them. If you are happy to jump into co-op with a bunch of randoms, again you might find something to like (if you can take the lack of any tactical clearance). I would be happy to get you into a game with me and my usual tactical co-op buddy so I can try and wring a little more life out of it, but for all the reasons above I am hugely disappointed.

They have built something that could be utterly brilliant, then completely hamstrung it for any fans of tactical shooters by removing realism in favour of big swarm-of-enemy gun battles on every map as often as possible - that is my core gripe.

Probably a fair review for the most part, except they gloss over what I consider to be the most glaring issues in the co-op offering.

If you want a tactical deathmatch game then I have no doubt that it tickles all the right nipples, but I don't. I also don't have a 5-man team of mates who own the game whenever I fancy playing.

You still buying this Prey? If I can find it cheap I might do so too, it would be fun to play with people I already know.

I can bring two to the co-op party if you two get it as well.

I've been considering buying into it just because I need a good squad based-tactical-coop-terrorist hunt-shooter. But this looks so barebones I'm not sure how far it'd really go. I wouldn't really be into the competitive multiplayer side so much.

I miss GRAW.

GRAW was fucking seven years ago, just let it go will you. You'd think we'd have found a worthy enough replacement by now but alas no.

edit: Every single time it gets mentioned. Every single time...

We were kings of GRAW. Kings I say!

What does suck, but is also utterly hilarious, is what is happening to R6:S, Ubi's big entry into the world of e-sports at the expense of those of us who aren't interested.

They have not put in any punkbuster, any VAC, any kind of cheat detection system whatsoever. Can anyone guess what is happening in the land of destructible bullets-go-through-walls terrorist based shootery?

Bell. Ends.

Well I was all set to buy this as I mentioned but as I currently don't have a reliable enough graphics card until next week I will have to wait. Not helped by the fact that key sites have ramped up the price for the game from £20 to £39.99. Hopefully I can track it down somewhere at a more reasonable price.
