My son has just finished this, and says:-

Spoiler: show
This one ends, where the first begins.

Is that true?
Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm"

The warrior whispers back "I am the storm"

Given that its been a few years since I played it...

Spoiler: show
No. You do briefly see the world from the first game. I've not played the DLC for Infinite (Buried at Sea?), so not sure what direction that goes

The worlds are linked, but not in a direct way. The end of Infinite gets a little esoteric at the end with instances of multiple universes and such.

Burial at Sea is set in Rapture pre-Bioshock 1 and you have a direct impact on events leading up to the first game. But again, without wanting to spoil, it gets a bit weird.

I would highly recommend Infinite and the DLC. Fantastic game, if not a bit dragged out at times.

The ending was wholly satisfactory for my love of pseudoscience.

I loathed Infinite...

Didn't get on with it very well either myself. Hard to say why now its been a while since I played it. Certainly didn't finish it I vaguely remember escaping on an airship and ending up doing something on a beach after that I guess I quit.

Bioshock 2 was the best of this bunch.

Never actually finished 2. The gameplay was more refined but the story and characters were just not up to the same standard as the original, probably because Levine wasn't at the head of it.

Hard pressed to choose between the first and Infinite though, they're both some of my favourite games. The story in Infinite with the Lutece twins and the portals is just fantastic, particularly when considering that most AAA games have totally naff writing.

See for me the story (what I remember of it) didn't really excite me, and the gameplay was diabolical. All I remember were the dead-faced marionettes that made up the NPC cast whirring through their animations then stopping dead like their strings had been cut, and entire areas having those NPCs vanish as soon as any combat started, just blinking out of existence.

Diabolical is slightly over doing it I think, yes the combat was improved in 2, but it wasn't a massive improvement over 1. I slowly got tired of the tower defence nature of defending the Little Sisters too.

I felt that 2 didn't have the same impact due to it using the same setting and I don't think the story was nearly as strong. Minerva's Den was fantastic though.

Dj I am referring to Infinite, not Bioshock 2. I thoroughly enjoyed both 1 and 2, but the third was gash for me.

The NPCs you're referring to that just blink out of existence weren't these two were they?

Because there is a point to that.

Not sure who else you could be referring to. And I thought the gameplay was more or less the same as the previous titles, only a little faster paced because of the sky hook.

Oh OK Snowy, in that case I think Infinite had the best combat of the three.
