Yeah, that's why it'll take a monumental effort to take that setting and levels and not making something equally wank.

It should just teleport straight to Nialanth (or whatever it's called) already dead: THE END. ¬_¬

Didn't mind those levels myself they weren't exactly a highlight but I don't recall them being awful.

I think they just felt very old school after everything that had come before.
IMO :P  :P  :P

They've taken so much time to do Xen because they have completely re done it and made it their own. it's nothing like it was in HL and has a narrative, and makes up about 1/3 of the game. Hopefully, they pull it off and it comes out amazingly well.

So yeah.... watch the Giantbomb quick look. It's embarassing!

Beautiful irony with "my brain in a steel trap for things from the 90s"

Unless they are trying to be ironic?
Edit: nah, they really aren't!

C'mon, they talk about how they'd like to see "the same events from that guard's perspective". They have to be taking the piss.

Those were bits that got me too but they just play it so straight and so natural. If they are taking the piss, fucking props to them because that was well done!

Didn't mind the Xen bits myself either but if they're still working on implementing I'll hold off on getting it so I can do a complete play through.

The problem is they got two people who never played the original to do it. Drew and Dan usually do the Unfinished which really doesn't matter most of the time but when it's HL it's a bit...meh. They needed Vinny to do this as he's a PC gamer but got one person who doesn't really play a hell a lot of video games and another who never payed on a PC until this year,.

Inside the first 2 minutes when he starts talking about how it has been in development for 10 years and then they start comparing it to Duke Nukem says to me they are joking around, that and the fact it is Dan doing this and we all know how he loves to troll people.

"Gee, I sure did love those Xen levels. Let's make them six times as long!"

I'm hoping the larger levels just mean that they're less vertical, thus relying less on awful jumping sections.

I don't think I hated them as much as some, but they just didn't feel like they were from the same game, and the Xen aliens were never as interesting to fight as the human ones anyway.
