Silent Storm

Postby Miss Marple » Thu Oct 30, 2003 12:07 am

Now, I don't usually do this but for this game I feel I have to. Before I begin let me just make a point clear

I don't like turn based stratergy games.

Right, got that? Good.

So Silent Storm is a turn based stratergy game set in WW2. Yet it is much more than that. It looks incredible, it has realistic physics with accurate bullet trajectories and bullets that go through things! Might not sound impressive but when you can shoot through floor boards to kill someone you realise how nice it is. For me this is what Commandos 3 should have been like (only in real time obviously). The scenery is totally destructable too, which means you have to be careful with grenades or you can blow a whole in a wall and face huge numbers of Nazi's without meaning too.

You can get a demo here: http://www.gamershell.com/news_BSilentS ... v1.1.shtml

I just thought I'd start this topic as the game comes out on Friday and it's not had that much publicity, which it really does deserve. Don't be put off by the turn based nature!

Bachnagairn was raving about it on PCGF which means it's either good or obscure. I must register my disappointment at the lack of Kobolds though...

What is this, WWII month? H&D2 last week, Silent Storm this week and CoD next. Not that I'm complaining, mind. Might have to pick this up tomorrow, the demo was the best TBS I can remember since UFO.

Miss Marple, your avatar is sadistic. I wish it to be removed.

Is it the one with the dog attacking the little toddler?

Do be honest i never heard of this until now  , but it sounds good, when i have more time i will give the demo a shot.

And by the way, either in the title, or your post, you have spelt it wrong, ones silent strom, ones silent storm, i'm guessing you mispelt the title :? .

Ah cheers. I've got really bad flu at the moment so that one must have slipped by.
