Nioh: Complete Edition PC November 7th

Postby Prey » Mon Oct 02, 2017 2:47 pm

Yet another PS4 game many always hoped would come over to the PC is now confirmed as finally arriving on Steam in November. Let's hope Koei Tecmo do it some justice unlike many of their recent PC releases...

The title includes all three DLC expansions for the PS4 title: Dragon of the North, Defiant Honor, and Bloodshed's End. Each DLC has its own weapons, enemies, and other additions, and Bloodshed's End includes the challenging Abyss world.

Nioh: Complete Edition also offers two viewing modes: Action Mode ensures 60 fps gameplay, while Movie Mode enables 4K.

The Wheel of Dharma kabuto is a form of "kawari-kabuto" - a family of helmets featuring fantastical designs. This helmet features a red-lacquered front crest of an ancient Buddhist symbol depicting the eightfold path to nirvana.
This holy image represents spiritual enlightenment attained by casting off one's worldly desires, and also holds the power to banish evil.
However, some claim this is not a Wheel of Dharma at all, merely a replica that looks as though it belongs on a device to regulate steam... Some have gone so far as to suggest renaming it to "Valve Kabuto," but why anyone would make a helmet featuring a valve is unclear...

Pretty sweet. Been holding out for a cheaper copy of this for a while now.

Still waiting on hearing how good the port is before I drop cash on this. Dying to play it but if the port is lacklustre then I'll just get the PS4 version and enjoy it in more comfort.

With their track history it will utterly defy all odds if it isn't a complete mess sadly.

Team Ninja has not implemented any form of mouse support in the PC version of the game...

“There is no M+K. The game does not support the mouse at all. It’s either controller or keyboard. No mouse.”

I can live without mouse support in a game like this. Not sure why you would want to play with a mouse and keyboard anyway.

It doesn't really fill you with confidence that they couldn't be bothered to put it in though. I'd definitely only play with a pad anyway, but there is still a market for players who use m&k for games like this, even the Dark Souls community has a small contingent who use that control scheme.

As I said, I'm going to wait. It's not a deal breaker for me at all that there's no m&k, but it doesn't really instill confidence that the rest of the port will be handled that well either.

Maybe, but I'd rather they spent the time making sure it ran than put in mouse and keyboard controls.

Looks like the port is not up to much scratch.

Unsurprising.

The mouse and keyboard stuff was all the signposting I required to keep my cash in my pocket.

Shame.

It seems to be really hit and miss whether people are having performance issues or not. No mouse and keyboard plus not being able to edit resolution options etc. from ingame is just your typical fare for a Japanese developer who isn't used to making PC ports, but performance-wise it seems some people are having no issues at all whilst others struggle to maintain 60fps.

Fingers crossed a couple of patches will sort it, then I'll likely pick up a copy.

Same here, firmly not spending on this. From my limited understanding there seems to be no excuse for lazy porting these days other than to cynically flip the bird at anyone that does give them cash.
