Planescape Torment: Enhanced Edition

Postby DjchunKfunK » Tue Mar 28, 2017 6:12 pm

Planescape Torment is getting the same treatment that the Baldur's Gate games got. Beamdog are on development duties once again with a little help from Chris Avellone.

RPS have had a play with it:

Seems reassuring, as the BG enhanced editions were iffy in places. I was considering replaying PS:T soon anyway, so this is an ideal opportunity.

A few hours into the enhanced edition and it's exactly what it should be: the same old PS:T working flawlessly on modern hardware. It's a better, more subtle job than what Beamdog did with BG, and the interface tweaks they've made (mostly button layout) are an improvement. There's an option to run without any enhancements too. Oh, and the area loading screen has been removed so transitions are instantaneous, which makes a tonne of difference when scurrying about the many screens of the Hive.

Very happy with this - it's the definitive edition with no compromises made.

So what you are saying is, it hasn't changed the nature of the game?

That's a highly apt way of putting it.
