That looks to be so good that I might halt playing until after Asimov is released, then start a new game with those somewhat (to me) vital changes. Not that it isn't already brilliant, but I can see the galaxy of my current game getting consumed by a foe that I have no way of getting help I need to even get close to defeating.

Just do what I've done and start a go on a tiny galaxy as the W40K Imperium of Man to tide you over. DIE FOUL XENO!
With Miltary, Spirtual and Xenopobe you can pretty threaten to burn everyone you meet as a heretic.

Using a mod or just race designer with all the Imperium of Man traits?

Thinking of starting a small game as a warlike bunch of crap people to be honest. ¬_¬

Just using the ideologies I put in my previous post, you can get quite simliare sounding conversation options to what you'd expect out og W40K stuff. Pretty fun to be warlike arseholes on a small map ^_^

Started my first proper war last night now that I've built up a reasonable fleet. I wish my allies would stop following my fleet around when there's no need for it - it would be far more useful if they could flank nearby systems to prevent enemy fleets from escaping.

Allies will only ever follow you around, they will never actually attack the enemy. Seems the AI in the event of a war is either broken or very basic.

Not sure if it's too early to tinker with mods, but there's some nice aesthetic mods in the workshop I'm tempted to try.

Though I don't understand all these race mods from other games/settings. Half the fun of Stellaris is discovering random Empires who you know nothing about!

As someone that bounced off CK2 because the tutorial was crappy and I just cba blindly poking it.... but also as someone who loves the idea of it, would Stellaris be a wise purchase? I'm looking at this and the new Master Of Orion with trepidacious optimism. I also have to keep reminding myself Ive only put a few hours into GalCiv3 and I should be playing that before buying more of them! :-k

Evol is in my brain.

If it helps at all, I'm keeping an eye out for Endless Space 2 which will be out before too much longer. Really enjoyed the first, and it's a lot more accessible imo than the likes of CK2 and Galciv.
My face is tired.

I didn't get into CK2 myself but I found my time spent playing Stellaris was a lot better but I do love sci fi and fleet battles and ruling the universe.

I recreated the Dune Universe with the game with all the various houses and had a great laugh for 17 hours in that one game. There is a lot of nice mods for the game so far but I highly recommend the UI Overhaul 1080 mod As the UI is very small and using the ingame scaler makes the text go all fuzzy instead.

Grab it when it's on sale as it's worth the risk imo.

As an aside, it's worth persevering with CK2 - once I got past the initial "WTF is going on" phase, it became one of my favourite games of the last decade.

I have done the naughty to try out this and MoO. Remember when games had demos and you didnt have to do this crap to test them out? :x

I am also looking forward to Endless Space 2. Endless Legend was real good.
