Did I bug through a section? Where the michelin man tells you the lift only goes down and he needs to go up to the giant, I went down having zero health and died to the superfast dashing gargoyley looking thing down there. On respawning and going back to the lift it immediately took me up and made peace. I then couldnt get back down to explore what was in the basement area.

Anyway, I think I'm done with this. Some great looking baddies and all that, it just feels like I'm doing the same thing again with what feels like not as good level design but that might just be me feeling burnt out on it all. Level designs only gotten worse since Boletaria ;) Definitely a good time for Chromehounds 2 8)

I don't think the level design is worse. It certainly doesn't spiral around as much as Dark Souls did, but that doesn't mean it is inherently bad.

I'm up to the first Lord and whilst the first part isn't too bad I've yet to land more than a few hits on the second part. It feels like fighting two bosses in one really which is a tad annoying. I can see why you ended up summoning help Me.

All the current exposure to this has made me return to the first Dark Souls in the vain hope that I will finally be able to crack it. I will inevitably regret this.

I actually did okay last night, getting to the Taurus Demon in an hour or so with little trouble (he slaughtered me a couple of times but I got close to killing him both times - just got caught by a rogue swipe). I'm convinced the key to the game is to leave it alone as soon as you get frustrated with it.

I do not like the Catacombs, it's a perfect example of how you shouldn't design combat areas in a third person game. The camera just can't cope with the combination of quick moving enemies and close quarters. At least it is a fairly small area.

I've reached the Cathedral of the deep now, after the cemetary full of maggot zombie things and there seems to be no bonfire in sight now and a bajillion of those little ambusher guys that just need to fuck ooooooff :(

I just ran past them :P I've found a few hard as nails enemies (one across the crab swamp from the bonfire, it's a knight with a winged helmet and can one shot me with his big sword) and another is a boss I don't think I'm supposed to fight yet opposite where Bordt of the Boreal Valley was) so kinda trying to farm souls to level up at the moment.

Still loving my Uchigatana, though could do with finding some large titanite shards!

The catacombs have a good supply of large titanite.
