Yeah it's a rough diamond maybe a bit like witcher series first game was. Very encouraging though so I hope it sells well for them.

When you're telling your story to the lady of Talmberg Castle, I had the choice of either telling her I ran away from the guards trying to rape the miller girl I'd been flirting with moments earlier, or to lie and say I tried to save her. At the time I'd seen a struggle, kinda, from the corner of my eye as I jumped on the first horse I came to and got the hell out of Dodge. But... could I have tried to save her (if I wasn't so craven)? Would the guards just have butchered me like an illiterate peasant brandishing a sword I can barely hold, or would something have happened that allowed me to save her?

Either way, I don't... I don't feel great about that :(

Spoiler: show
You can save her. I heard the guards the first time and in a fit of madness tried to fight them and obviously got slaughtered. I tried a few more times with similar results. Eventually I cottoned on that you can press the mount key to whistle, which got their attention so they chased me, at which point I stole a horse and legged it while the victim got away.

Well now I feel even worse :(

In fairness, until Henry was telling his story later on I didn't really have any idea about what was happening in that scene. Cold comfort, though.

I'm going to have to role-play this Henry as an utter cad, aren't I?

How well does it run? My GTX 970 and 8gb of ram seem a little puny these days and all the cryptocunts have inflated the price of GPUs.

I'm playing with a 980gtx on high with a constant 60fps I think I could push to very high though i haven't tried yet. Bear in mind it seems like it could generally do with a wee optimise in a patch here and there.

They've made a mod based on the fix Me mentioned on the last page - infinite saves providing you have at least one Saviour Schnapps on your person (if you do, then it doesn't deplete), and one of the PCG writers has tested it and says it works:

Going to grab that now.

Tested it quickly just now, and it does work. You can manually save by pressing Escape, it says it will use a Schapps but actually doesn't.

Pretty cool. Hope it doesn't break the game when they patch it at some point :/

Nice, will definitely be getting that. I still don't want to exploit it too much but sometimes you just have to save to go and do real life things.

Also, I love how you need to edit the code to write that properly.

Fuck it, bought.

Sounds too intriguing not to go for, and people trying new things in games is too rare for me not to support the developers.

Quite weirdly for an RPG, I've only killed about 3 or 4 people in several hours of play. Thinks that's a ringing endorsement of it's qualities to be honest.

Same. On the road back to your home town I ran into a few solitary bandits robbing corpses and gave them a sound thrashing (before continuing to loot corpses), but that's about it really.

I did strike out along a road I thought would leave to a treasure cache, whereupon two bandits leapt out from the trees and beat me to death in about four hits, so think it'll be a while before I go back out there again. I probably could have taken one, but every time I locked on to fight him his mate would slam his mace into the back of my skull.

I've spent about the last three hours wandering the streets of Rattay, doing some of the thief quests. Having a whale of a time. I will say though I don't know how I could have done it without the save mod, as the pickpocket mini-game is very tempermental (You can never tell exactly how long it will take them to detect you, even asleep it can even happen instantly and appears to be totally random, and after that the controls aren't responsive enough and the placement of the item you want is also randomised... and that's assuming someone hasn't wandered into the room and caught you red-handed). All of which meant I spent about half an hour trying to pick the pocket of one sleeping guard for a quest, loading and reloading about a dozen times. Fortunately I was able to freely save beforehand, without being able to do that it would be maddening.

This might help.

If you ever want to practice pickpocketing, you can hit Miller Peshek up again. He'll let you steal his dagger from him as many times as you want. Each time you successfully take it, you'll gain more XP towards your pickpocketing skills, and eventually, you'll raise its level.
