I've pre-ordered like a chump.

Going to have to watch some authentic medieval sword training videos on youtube in preparation.

I'll be relying on your day one impressions, WB!

Fair warning, you should all know by now that my first impressions are usually mindless optimism. :)

I'll get this I think. Combat looks a little clunky though. Maybe videos aren't putting it across very well and I'd love to see what the general consensus on how it feels actually is. However a lot of the videos on the game are very spoilery looking so I can't tell what the feeling on the combat is.

I've read the combat is very in-depth, far more so than your Elder Scrolls click-fest. Apparently takes a while to get used to as there are loads of different moves you have to learn, but looking forward to giving it a go.

I have little doubt I'll get it, only thing that would stop me is if WB reports back that it's launched as a buggy mess that runs like a slideshow.

Yeah some of the videos I've seen seem to give the impression that it's a but clunky on the graphics side. Looks lovely though.

Good thread for early impressions:

https://www.resetera.com/threads/kingdo ... tly.22499/

In the second post they give the bullet points from a reviewer in Germany who's been playing the game.

Sounds like PC performance is very good and while it's not bug-free there aren't any major issues with it.

Might even pay the pre-release price just in case it goes up tomorrow...

... aaand the price on CD Keys has already gone up, from £27 to £30. Curse my indecision.

I ended up getting it slightly cheaper on Instant Gaming, though - £28.95.

I'll pay the Steam price for it I think and show some solid support for this fledgling studio :)

Edit: that link reports the story as "mediocre" sigh.

On the other hand it says the quests are good and can be completed multiple ways, which is a big plus.

For an open-world game, I'm not sure the story is the main thing. With Oblivion or Skyrim the story was thin at best, and what I remember most about those games are the exploration and some well done quest lines.

Yes true but it just fucking annoys me that games can't seem to create decent main stories yet produce decent side quests. Dunno it might all be subjective of course. Will see what threads are pulled by the main media reviews.
