This is either going to be a Witcher 3 success or Kingdoms of Amalur failure.

This is out in just over a month, and PCG has a nice preview piece on it:

I have to say, on the assumption CDPR's Cyberpunk isn't out this year, this is probably the 2018 game I'm looking forward to the most. I'll probably wait for reviews just in case, but assuming it's not a mess I'll probably get it soon after release.

Some of those systems sound rather off-putting to me. Not sure it is going to be my kind of thing.

I think it looks awesome, and immersive as hell! :)

It might not be the sort of thing you mainline in 8-hour sessions every day, but I could easily see me happily pottering around for an hour of an evening role-playing life in a medieval setting.

I'd much rather see devs do something a bit innovative and take a few risks than see another generic Ubi-style icon-strewn map and doing everything at the press of a single button.

Funnily enough I've just read that article and watched a few videos, and I'm fully hyped about this now. I get the impression it's going to be one of those games that has ridiculous ambition which is fulfilled enough to be endearing when it falls short. The combat, which previously looked too complicated and clunky, now looks simple enough to work without compromising its complexity too much. I really hope they've nailed it. Honestly though, I'd buy it just for the maps - they're stunning!

Yeah, very excited about this. I may even take a day or two off work for it.

The survival stuff really doesn't interest me. If it's like every other game with hunger mechanics you'll be eating every five minutes.

Normally I'd agree with you, but one of the videos I watched pointed out that all NPCs need to do the same things you do, like eating, and you can exploit that by doing things like stealing or poisoning all the food in a bandit camp. That sounds like huge potential for mischief.

New trailer:

Looks outstanding... just hope it lives up to it's promise. Will wait for reviews, but providing they're decent still looking to pick this up.
