Is the villa the place with all the traps? I buggered the story a bit by then so I'm not sure when you are supposed to go there.

Got through it. There's a building full of traps to the west of that section which I didn't fully explore because there didn't look to be much of value and it looked especially fatal.

Larian are currently working on two new games using the Divinity: OS engine. Whilst doing this they are still committed to fixing any issues that remain with the original game including improving the user interface, revisiting encounters, rebalancing loot, rewritting certain sections of dialogue and tackling character progression.

Larian have been working on an enhanced version of the game for the PS4 and Xbox, but they have announced that the changes they have been making will make it into an enhanced version of the PC game. Everyone who bought the original game will get a free copy of the Enhanced version. It wont be compatible with the old version due to the myriad of changes that have taken place including the following.

-Changes to the story including a new ending and the flabby middle has been tightened up.
-All combat encounters have been redone.
-Camera can now be rotated 360 degrees.
-Enchanced DX11 technical features.
-Most visual effects redone.
-All dialogue is now voice acted.
-AI Character interactions have been tided up.
-New quests and locations.

The Enhanced Edition will be out at the end of the year.

I'm looking forward to checking it out especially as the flabby middle is sort of what stopped me from completing the game. It seemed to lose its way a bit and at the time I didn't have the drive to push through

EDIT: RPS have carried out an interview with someone at Larian about the Enhanced Edition.

Sounds like a good opportunity for another replay. I started another a couple of weeks ago, but didn't get very far with it (still a bit soon since the last one), so I'll hold off for the EE I think.

Reading the interview made me realise how much more fun I had with Divinity than I have managed to have with Pillars.

Yeah, that's exactly what I found as well, as I said in the PoE thread (still not finished it, nor played it since that last time).

There were things that were off in the original release and I don’t like having anything off in one of our releases. We could improve it, and therefore we should, and therefore we did.

=D>

There aren't many developers with a strong enough position to be able to do this. But of those developers who are able, I'm not sure there are any other than Larian who would do it with this fantastic attitude, and for free. Bravo.

(Actually maybe CD Projekt, as their enhanced versions of Witcher 1 and 2 made significant improvements for free.)

CDPR would (and did)!

But yes, nice move by them all the same.

Edit: Ninja edit makes me look foolish :(

:P

Thinking about it, Paradox have made a hell of a lot of free improvements to CK2 and EU4 amongst all their chargeable DLC. It's easy to forget that for all the EAs and Ubisofts there are some very decent and generous studios out there.

I get the feeling that between this and the Wasteland 2 upgrade, my gaming for late 2015 is going to be a repeat of the middle of 2014.

Apparently Kirill Pokrovsky, the composer on the game has died.

Here he is tickling the ivories Divinity style for your enjoyment...
