Divinity: Original Sin

Postby Sly Boots » Mon Dec 09, 2013 10:39 pm

Is there a thread for this already? I had a look but couldn't see anything.

Anyway, another Divinity game from Larian, seems like more of a return to their roots than recent departures like Dragon Commander, and is sounding pretty intriguing I think.

RPS thoughts on a hands-on preview:

I probably wouldn't want to co-op it, so for me it would need to be properly viable as a single player experience (AS says it can be soloed, but I wouldn't want it to be a constant struggle on your own), but just comparing it to the likes of Ultima VII is quite exciting.

Their games aren't always quite up there with the greats, for me, but they deserve credit for always trying to push the boundaries a bit and do something different.

Sounds like an early 2014 release, so not that far off really.

I've pretty much loved there Divinity series even if it didn't quite work out well for second one with control of the deathknight and you being linked and having to be bastardised to work on the xbox 360.

Been waiting on news and more info on this game when he did a article in a mag (old pczone or pcgamer?) about how he wanted to redo Divinity to be the game he always wanted made without the outside interference changing it.

Always been fascinated with the Divinity games, but have yet to sit down and really dig into any of them. Got the Anthology box set and Dragon Commander sitting on my shelf as well.

Will be sure to check this one out once I've had my fill of the older games... whenever that might be.

Ah this is the one they Kickstarted to finish off. I thought it looked quite interesting, but have never really got on with the Divinity games.

Preview up on Eurogamer.

I like the sound of a lot of what they are talking about, especially the ideas they have taken from Ultima VII. It sounds like it could be a it of a beast to put together without any issues, but hopefully they will manage it.

Have they said when it's going to be released? I know alpha is out, and early access is being planned to come out soon, but I'd prefer to play it when it's done.

Sounds very interesting.

I played Divine Divinity, it had some good ideas but few of them actually worked. You could break the game by killing important characters, but you wouldn't be told that you'd broken it.

Think I read in a preview you can still do that here, but the game adapts around it.

This comes out on Friday and I have the following week off. Tempted to pick this up. It's been a while since I had an RPG that I could sink hours into.

Same here, shame they have delayed the release a week. I had this earmarked to play on my week off.

I've bought it too, I'm leaving it until the finished version comes out though.

Ooh, Steam seems to be downloading a 2gb update for this today, wonder if that's the final release?
