The Walking Dead (Telltale) Series 2 planned for Q4 2013

Postby Sly Boots » Wed Mar 06, 2013 5:03 pm

Apologies to anyone who already made a thread for this - I did search but I couldn't find anything.

Anyhow, anyone who has played series 1 is no doubt waiting in earnest for the next series of what proved to be a simply excellent exercise in storytelling.

The good news is there is a second season incoming.

The bad news is that it's due in "Autumn 2014".

But more good news is there may be new content before then.

Hoping to find out the fate of [REDACTED] after [REDACTED] in the [REDACTED] conclusion to Season 1 of The Walking Dead? Prepare for a wait. In an interview with Eurogamer, Telltale’s CEO Dan Connors reveals the game’s second season is currently planned for release around “fall next year”. On the plus side, it means people who haven’t yet played the game have well over a year to find out what that first sentence is hiding.

Fortunately for fans, the studio plans to release some form of Walking Dead content in the interim between the two seasons, as revealed by writer (and mayor of Whitta Vista) Gary Whitta last week. “Knowing that it’s a way off, and knowing that people are hungry for more Walking Dead, there may very well be more Walking Dead from Telltale before season two,” he said.

“We’ll probably have something to announce fairly soon about what we’re going to do,” Connors admitted. “It’ll be different.”

I'm glad they are taking their time as it will allow them to build on the original game. It probably wouldn't hurt if they could also use a new engine as I think the reason why some of the action parts of the original game were so bad is because the engine the used just wasn't built for them.

EDIT:

Apparently Telltale have just come out and said series 2 will be out THIS autumn and not late next year as was previously said.

Good news.

Not strictly series 2, but DLC has shown up on Steam. 400 Days...

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/06/06/t ... m-database

A Steam database listing seems to have leaked the news of the next installment in Telltale’s The Walking Dead. According to a listing on Steamdb, a piece of downloadable information regarding content titled “400 Days” has appeared on Steam.

If this is true, it would be in line with the recent Vines that Telltale has been leaking via Twitter. The short videos feature quick looks at various new characters, and have featured titles named after various days. So far there's been Day 2, Day 220, and Day 236.

400 Days out this week...

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/41 ... -this-week

Wednesday for Steam and Friday for 360 and next week for PSN.

The episode is an expansion which requires the first season of The Walking Dead to work, and will cost $4.99 or "the equivalent".

And finished.

Wow. It's, uh, short. Really short, 1-2 hours tops.

What it does do is set up season 2, so if you plan to get that it's likely you'll want to play this as well. There are five character stories, each about 15-20 minutes long and they're all interesting. They're not difficult but there are a couple of tough choices to make, and those choices do seem to directly affect the ending.

It's £4, I thought it was good and I'm glad I got it as I'll be getting season 2, just thought I'd flag up the length in case that's an issue for anyone.

I'll wait to see if they knock anything off in the sale, four quid is a wee bit steep.

So two Telltale episodic series running at once. It will be interesting to see how they stack up against each other.

First trailer and a little info.

We can confirm today that The Walking Dead: Season Two – A Telltale Games Series continues Clementine’s story. Not only will you see Clem again, you’ll actually be playing as her, struggling to outwit both the dead and the living in situations that will test your morals and shape the flow of the story through your decisions and actions.

I love how her weapon of choice is a hammer, the very same weapon that she gave Lee when they first met, so he could kill the babysitter.
