I had a bash at this a while ago when it was having beta weekends. I really like the skill system which is rather confusing, but does allow you to really specialise your character. The way gems work was also rather interesting as by adding different gems to weapons they allow you to cast different spells and have different effects. If you like action RPGs I would say it was definitely worth checking out especially as it is free.

I see a few people have been playing this now that it is official out. I find that is sits somewhere between Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3 in terms of how fun it is to play, but for free I think it is definitely worth checking out if you like your ARPGs.

I had no idea that this was going to be a free to play title.

Sounds well worth a bash...

Played around with this for a bit yesterday and so far have really enjoyed it. It doesn't even feel like a F2P game, I've not been pestered about the micro transactions at all or even bothered looking at them to see what kind of stuff you can buy. I still wish they'd made this a regular game though because the production quality is very high and I would rather have paid up front if it meant more content in the campaign.

Fantastic stuff though, the gameplay mechanics are pretty original and make for a lot of fun. The fact that I can make a sorcerer witch who can also summon undead minions is just brilliant. Large chunks of act 1 have felt a lot like they've basically just remade Diablo 2, but then that's what most of us wanted D3 to be like anyway. Overall I'm really impressed, it's one of the best ARPGs I've played in a long time and I wasn't expecting that at all.

One question: Does it have physics?

Say what you will about Titan Quest of Diablo 3, but when you land a huge hit and you see the bodies and debris flying about, you feel like such a bad ass.

The physics are your pretty standard fare for a game like this, but the combat still feels pretty meaty thanks to the sound and effects.

What am I supposed to do with the stuff that vendors give me?

I think you're supposed to stack the small things until they become a bigger thing that needs to be stacked to become an upgrade but by then you've found better stuff because they haven't given it Borderlands 2 style drop-rates.

Helps that they actually did a proper beta test unlike Blizzard.

So I've made a Marauder with two-handed weapons and now I keep getting killed by swarms of red slug things that explode before I can kill them :x

Made it to the end of act 2 with two characters on hardcore mode, the first one died in two hits to the act boss; the second managed to beat him but then died to the first unique boss mob that crops up right at the start of act 3. Frustrating, but good fun.
