Yeah, first time EVER I've actually got to queue to get on my shitty realm. FFS Blizz, surely you could have forseen this. Like they said on The Apprentice last night "It's not Rocket Surgery".( :) )

That's exactly what I said seconds after the idiot last night. :)
Ashamed to say I then had to take 5 mins explaining it to my kids.....DNA test please.

I didn't have to queue at all to get onto Bloodhoof.

The instanced intro quest is rather exciting, but as soon as you finish it, you get dumped into a laggy mess. I'm ending it there for the evening, I don't want to ruin it by mashing my face against a server.

It was suitably epic for an introduction I think. Really enjoyed it (though I don't see why we couldn't have turned the big tank on Hellscream ¬_¬).

Suffered the same "too many people" issue after that though, so calling it a night I think.

I didn't get on at all, bailed at 2800 with a 3 hours ETA. Have prepped my wife today though, at 2:30 she will fire up the PC and WoW, then trigger my 'hit the spacebar once every 5 mins' macro just in case the game logs on before I get home from work.

Expectations are not high though, have heard about insane lag and broken quests, will give it some proper time once it is all fixed up and the players on the race to 100 have all buggered off.

Just logged on after the 4 hrs maintenance and *gasp* it appears to be ok. (touches wood).(No, not that wood. [-X )

EDIT - Soooo, spoke too soon. Been sitting in a queue for the last 2 hours (since 5pm) waiting to play something I pay £120 a year for. Not thrilled. At least another hour's wait ahead. If I'm lucky.

This is so good. The garrison idea is brilliantly implimented, and there's been a lot of tweaks to the questing.

Also, not allowing you to fly from the start is doing wonders for making you see the environment and learn your way round. In MoP I just felt like everything flew by (literally).

You couldn't fly in Mists until you hit 90, could you? I think they learned their lesson with Cataclysm, where the experience was completely ruined by being able to fly over half of it.

We're not plowing through the content yet (I didn't want to ruin the experience because of server issues), but we're enjoying what we've seen so far. I too like the garrison; it fulfills the role of daily quests without you actually having to do the same boring content repeatedly.

I remember zooming around earlier than that I thought. It may have been Cataclysm I'm thinking of...

Yeah, you could fly in Cataclysm from the off as the zones were set in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms (and it would have been stupid to dismount while flying into them).

Rather unsurprisingly the release of Draenor has pushed WoW subs back over the 10 million mark.

My partner said that it feels like Warcraft; I'd say that's a fairly glowing remark coming from a massive fan of WC3. With that in mind, I'm not surprised a lot of people have come back. Frostfire Ridge, the Horde starting area, didn't have any massive, world-shaping significance - it's a story of two warring clans of orcs, and it's brilliantly done. The characters are heroic, the landscape just the right amount of desolate, and the interaction is engaging. Blizzard have outdone themselves with this expansion I feel, at least on the strength of that first area.
