Dungeon Siege III

Postby DjchunKfunK » Mon Jun 07, 2010 6:02 pm

Squarenix have announced that Dungeon Siege III us currently under development at wait for it....Obsidian. According to the press release it will be keeping it's action orientated roots and will be appearing on the 360, PS3 and PC. More details at E3.

Have to say I didn't expect Obsidian to be working on a Dungeon Siege game especially as Gas Powered Games are still about. Guess Chris Taylor must be busy. Although apparently GPG are closely watching the development of the game.

The first two DS games sometimes get a bad rep but I quite enjoyed them - it's basically just party-based Diablo - so I'll keep an eye on this.

Endless inventory management forced me to quit DS. Great items, just too much crap to pickup.

It was more like a travelling sales man simulator, with action bits.

The second one gave you a pack mule, which was a godsend.

(At least, I think it was DS2 that introduced it..either way, with a pack mule inventory management ceased to be much of a problem)

Obsidian have had lots of experience with party based RPG and I think they're getting better and better at it. (MotB was better than SoZ but still)

This is no bad thing imo.

Bit weird though, Obsidan normally go plot and dialogue heavy, while Dungeon siege is all about the hack and slash.

Must admit, never really liked the original, but then I was never a fan of Diablo either so not too surprising. Avoided #2 for obvious reasons :)
